Privacy Policy
Yonder is a long-range ballistics training simulator published by Yonder Software LLC ("we", "us"). We built Yonder to be private by default: it is fully playable offline, and the things you create in it — your load profiles, scores, settings, and progress — live on your device, not on our servers. This policy explains exactly what that means, and the few narrow cases where data leaves your device.
What we store on your device
Everything you do in Yonder is saved in your device's local storage (the same place a website remembers your preferences). That includes:
- Rifle / cartridge load profiles and ballistic settings you enter.
- Scores, drill results, Academy progress, and unlocked content.
- App preferences (audio on/off, haptics on/off, scope and reticle choices).
This data never leaves your device through us, is not tied to an account, and is removed if you delete the app or clear its storage. We cannot see it.
Anonymous analytics — no cross-app tracking
Yonder (both the App Store app and the website) uses privacy-light, anonymous product analytics (via PostHog) to count feature usage and improve the app — which drills get played, which features get found. It is cookieless, with no autocapture, no session recording, and no personally identifying information in events. Events carry a random anonymous identifier, never your name, email, or Apple ID, and are never linked back to you. Our analytics provider derives coarse, country-level geography from your connection; we never collect your precise location. Yonder does not track you across other apps or sites, shows no ads, and sells nothing about you.
Purchases
If you buy anything in the App Store app, the payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card or billing details. To unlock what you bought and restore it on reinstall, an anonymous purchase record (which products a random anonymous app-install identifier owns) is processed by our purchase-management provider, RevenueCat. That record is not linked to your real identity and is used only to make your purchases work.
Online features: daily leaderboard & networked matches (optional)
If you choose to post a score to the daily leaderboard, or to play a networked match against a friend (a feature of earlier versions — currently being rebuilt, and not offered in the latest releases), Yonder connects through a lightweight relay. To make this work:
- Each device uses a randomly generated anonymous key — not your name, email, phone number, or Apple ID — so players can be matched.
- A display name you choose is shown to your opponent and, if you appear on the Elo leaderboard, stored alongside that anonymous key and your rating. Use a nickname if you prefer; nothing requires your real name.
- What's stored for these features is limited to that anonymous key, your chosen display name, and match results / rating — used only to run matchmaking and the leaderboard. It is not linked to your real identity, not used to advertise to or track you, and not sold.
If you only play offline (pass-and-play, drills, the Academy) and never start a networked match, none of this data is ever sent — everything stays on your device.
Children
Yonder is a marksmanship/hunting training simulator intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data we do not collect
We do not collect your name (beyond an optional multiplayer nickname), email, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers. We do not show ads. We do not sell data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be reflected in the app's release notes.
